The Holy Spirit Portal Church Bible is a free multilingual Bible app created for the church family and the wider Christian community.
It was designed and developed by Sumit Mathew, founder of Holy Spirit Portal Church in Brisbane, Australia. Sumit is an engineer by background and believes in a spirit of excellence - that the church should grow, build, create, and carry dominion across every platform, including technology.
This app is a step of faith to make God’s Word more accessible for English, Malayalam, Hindi, and Swahili-speaking believers. You can read the Bible in one language or side by side, highlight and bookmark verses, save notes, share Scripture as text or beautiful images, and install the app on your phone for offline reading.
This project is also a reminder that believers can lead by example. With God’s grace, vision, and dedication, we can use our skills to build things that bless people and advance the Kingdom of God.

Is the app free?
Yes - the Holy Spirit Portal Church Bible is completely free for everyone. There is no payment, and you do not need an account to read.
Which Bibles and languages are included?
You can read the Bible in four languages: English, Malayalam, Hindi and Swahili. Read one language on its own, or two side by side.
Do I need to download it from an app store?
No. It is a web app - simply open bible.holyspiritportal.com in any browser. If you wish, you can add it to your home screen so it opens like a normal app.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Once you have added the app to your home screen and opened it, you can keep reading even without an internet connection.

What is the Verse of the Day?
A daily Bible verse chosen and released by the church. You can also turn on an optional gentle morning reminder to receive it as a notification.

- Version 4.82026The full More menu — Daily Prayer on Zoom, Verse of the Day, and more — now on laptop and desktop too. Plus a gentle 9:10 pm notification each evening before Daily Prayer.
- Version 4.72026A fresh word every morning. The Verse of the Day now changes faithfully each day - never repeating yesterday's verse - both on the Home page and in the daily notification.
- Version 4.62026Scripture speaks your mother tongue. The Listen button now plays real human narration in Malayalam and Hindi across the whole Bible, and in Kiswahili across both testaments - the Old Testament in the Union Version and the New Testament in a warm dramatised reading from the Bible Society (1981), all recorded with native speakers. Hindi listeners hear the very same Indian Revised Version that is on their screen, word for word. Wherever the recorded version differs from the on-screen text, a small badge says so honestly.

A new Listen button above every chapter plays beautiful human narration - the New King James Version for the New Testament and the King James Version for the Old - with play controls that work from your lock screen, adjustable speed, and chapters that flow one into the next so you can listen through a whole book. Malayalam, Hindi, and Swahili chapters are read aloud by your device's own voice, with each verse gently lit as it is spoken.
- Version 4.42026Swahili, everywhere. The complete Kiswahili Neno Bible (Biblica) now lives inside the app - read and search it fully offline. Online it appears with headings and the words of Jesus in red; if the signal drops mid-reading, the app carries on seamlessly from the copy on your device and returns to full formatting when you are back. Watch also became live-aware: the moment our service goes live, every open Watch screen switches to the stream by itself.
- Version 4.32026Made for the ends of the earth. The app now carries its own beautiful typefaces and keeps every offline Bible safe across updates - so Malayalam, Hindi, English, and Swahili all read perfectly with no connection at all: in the village, on the plane, anywhere. The Verse of the Day now remembers itself for offline mornings, and the whole app loads faster.
- Version 4.22026Share the Word beautifully. Tapping Image on a verse now opens a gallery of fourteen hand-crafted looks - dawns, watercolours, honey, starlit night - each shown as a tiny living preview, in square or tall Story shape, with the Verse of the Day gaining its own share button on Home. Also in this release: larger, easier verse buttons, a bolder book name above each chapter, and a comfortable book list on smaller laptops.
- Version 4.12026Search that speaks your language. Searching Malayalam, Hindi, and the built-in King James is now far more forgiving: capitals no longer matter, Hindi finds words typed with or without the nukta dot, Malayalam recognises both spellings of the same word, and you can search several words at once. Every match glows softly in gold - and because these Bibles live inside the app, it all works completely offline.
- Version 4.02026The largest update yet. A new Home screen greets you with the Verse of the Day and returns you to where you were reading. The redrawn top bar puts book, chapter, and translation in tidy pills; a new Compare view shows one verse across all your translations; highlights come in five colours that sync across devices; and the King James Version is built in so English reading always works offline.
